The Mystery Is Solved!
In the span of 2 hours and 21 minutes Kai delivered 7 healthy puppies. The two males are "bookends" to 5 feisty girls.
I will try to keep the web page as updated as I post on Face Book.. I promise.

September 17-20 Life is moving forward- Today (20th) they had their first raw chicken, and now 5 hrs later there are no disastrous gut results! They have had visitors. They scream to get outside rather than go in litter boxes. So they definitely know the difference between outside and inside. Now there are 7 crates int heir room. Trying to make sure that everyone gets chicken without stealing or gulping it down=each pup is fed in a crate. It is the beginning of "crates=food and good place."
September 11-16 OK, I am way behind. Easy to make excuses, but the reality is that this is the time period when I am outside with the pups, doing things with them, not watching russet potatoes in a litter box with lots of time to update :>)
Monday (Sept 14) they went to Pam's, Wednesday (Sept 16) they came home. All of the pictures below are from that time period... Kai stayed here, we were hoping that she would continue to dry up, but she does not want to stop nursing them. So we do ONE nursing session a day- other than that she wears "puppy proof clothing."

September 10 They are doing great. Life is good. Kai is weaning them, they spend as much time outside as I can- I don't want them to sleep outside yet, but it is a great way to tire them out!
September 7 - OK I admit it, I am getting pictures and movies up on my (Rhoda Thompson Ezell) Face Book page faster than the web site. But life is full. The pups now have their 35 x 12 play space.. Enjoy the pictures and videos!
September 6 Yep, not getting updates done every day now. just too busy. We started with Pam here for temperament evaluations and structure evaluations on 6 Aussie puppies. I love watching the temperament. work. Yes it is a snapshot in time, but it shows what a pup needs in their new home, what they are strongest at, what they need support with.
The a bit of time with the pups for Pam and her mother. Then Pam off to show Jinks (from the Gods litter) . I crashed and then puppy people arrived to play outside for an hour. I went out to dinner, then back to feed and move pups to bed room location. The the job of cleaning the "play room and prep for morning occupancy.

September 4 VISITORS.. lots of them.. Pups outside for first time. They loved it-not even a "what is this?? reaction. Peeing and pooping like champions. It was noonish, hot and they did not last long. Back inside for cuddles and observations.. WARNING: I was calling the pups in the video- BEFORE YOU CLICK ON THE 1ST VIDEO BELOW, TURN DOWN YOUR VOLUME.. EAR PIERCING - sorry !. They are getting a raw meal first thing in the morning, then two kibble meals spread out noonish and before e all crash for the night. Kai is still nursing, not often, not long as they do have sharp teeth!
September 3 WORKED with dogs, bathroom remodel, X-pens all day! cleaned X-pens we used Tuesday for the Wire Haired pups. Weights and nails for the pups (adults got nails done last night) Brought Xpens in and set up the first of the puppy play areas. Set up hanging strings, some toys, new litter boxes (higher sides) . (videos and pics below) Moved pups, and then deep cleaning done to whelping/play area in den. All is clean, I am TIRED!!. Still have to drive to dog show grounds to help tape grooming area.
Puppy firsts today: Raw meat and veggies, deeper litter boxes, new huge play area, and cramming a lot of pups to sleep on a toy1

September 2 I know that the day happened, as I have pictures below. But nothing major stands out. I was busy compiling the trophy materials, signs, and tickets for the Kennel Club Show this weekend. I will not be there to work-cannot leave the pups that long.
September 1 We hosted a puppy temperament evaluation. We had 12 Wirehaired Vizsla puppies outside the yard in X-pens, until they were taken to the basement for the evaluation. Twelve puppies take a long time. But they were raised similarly to the way I raise my pups, they were all so solid and similar. The smooth coated got lots of loving from Pam and Margaret Schaefer after all was done. Then I crashed
August 31 They are 4 weeks old today. They have teeth, Kai is getting tired of the teeth, and we start 2 meals a day today, building to four. If she has just eaten before she gets in the box to feed them, there is a LOT of investigation going on around her mouth. They want her raw food! Luckily, she does not comply by regurgitating! Lots of workers in and out of the house today, but the dogs are handling it well. We will all be glad when it stops. Their mobility is better, they climb on the cardboard boxes in the pen, or out on the floor. They bite each other, and in general are very healthy puppies!
August 30 A FULL Day! First of all they ate their first real meal.. pics and video below..Daughter and family came up to cover carpet in the "puppy exploration rooms" with the plastic we use at dog shows to cover the carpet. It is WORK, and I deeply appreciate the work.
While they were here the family who have Kai's sister came to play as well. Man were there some tired puppies last night

August 29 We had Visitors today. Long time Vizsla owners that gave the pups lots of love. The finally crashed. The videos are : I introduce a pice of plastic for tunnel play, I introduced a cardboard box to play on, and then while visitors were here..the pics were taken during visitor time.
August 28 They were weighed today- information above is current! No visitors, just time to play, potty and sleep. Sleep is important for growth!
August 27 As you will notice that due to picture 1 below, the puppy area got rebuilt. It is "escape proof," larger, more toys hanging. and in general more to explore. As you will see in a picture above, Kai has a "step" to get into the pen. there is a panel too high for the pups, but Kai can get in and out.
August 26 Yesterday happened, but little got accomplished. Today: All pups had their first experience with the Dremel nail grinder. They survived, some handled it better than others. front teeth, eye teeth and back molars are almost all in. They are really learning to use the litter box, and they eat and sleep like demons. Saturday I will start feeding them. they are ready
August 24 The litter box is being used! Their ears are open, they LOVE the pumpkin with probiotics to help stabilize the gut; they attack me for it, so starting with "Puppy/Puppy" when I feed it. This is the beginning of a recall.. Puppy/Puppy = food.. come and get it!
The video is of their response to the vacuum cleaner. Yes they can hear, they do not care. As Pam says, her house is MUCH cleaner when there are pups in the house. Their response can change. So we keep repeating. We also now start the life of dropping pots and pans at random moments. Clash and Bang. And turning on hard rock, etc when I am not home... BTW- excuse any jumpiness of video while moving vacuum and videoing at same time.

August 23 A day of ups and downs. Ups- they are using the litter box more than I hoped after 24 hrs. The downs- one of the pups found out where the top edge of the low side of the box is. SO we will have to lock them in with the X-pen when I am not home- giving Kai a raised platform to use for entering the box-she says that this is WAY too early! I got out for some shopping, and then they had visitors. For once they were awake and showed that they can play for visitors. Tomorrow I will weigh them - weighing is no longer a "daily event." ANd construction continues... Starting week 2 of that event.
August 22 The first duty of the day was to change the whelping box into a sleep and a potty area. There is now a "litter box" area and a sleep/play area. The goal is NOT to have the dog learn to potty inside, it is to give the babies a "potty area" that works better than poop and pee on paper. This is my first attempt at doing this, and we will see how it goes.
Then we had LOTS of visitors. We have some friends who had a rescue Vizsla for many, many years come for "introduction to youngsters." They will be about ready for a pup in a couple of years when Jinks has her litter. The one of the potential puppy homes drove down from PA. It will be their first Vizsla, but the man works in a building that is full of people who take their dogs to work daily. Lots of socialization opportunities. We all slept well!

August 21 We are back in business. Pup weights current, video uploaded, whelping box has potty and sleep areas (the opposite of their preferred wishes, but I need the potty to be AWAY from where we go in and out). Toys in, eyes fulling open, playing more, sleeping lots, Kai happy, and the bathroom reconstruction is continuing.
August 20 Yes, I am aware that I did no web uploading, weighing, etc . Tega got acupuncture (3 hr bite of time), then I went grocery shopping., picked up dog meds, etc. There was no one here doing bathroom reconstruction so I took the day for "take care of pups and of dogs and me". Very little else happened. Oh yes, the mower people came and the grass is cut :>) I did take pictures though.. The color and clarity may be off. Their eyes are "newly opened," and as such are sensitive. Flash this week is a no no.
August 19 LOTS of visitors.. Pam, Henry, Drew and Cherry came by for a visit as they headed to get Drew into his room at UC. The pups got a "they are fantastic" blessing from Pam! We weighed them- some very loose stools (not frequent) so Kai is on a change of diet.., and the pups getting some more probiotics. Then the Marks (own a Kai sister) came by with lunch and the pups got young and teen children time - LOTS of it. They are under orders to come 2 times a week.... And in a little while a prospect puppy home comes by for a meet and greet. We will all sleep good tonight. I might not get pics up until the AM. we will see...
August 18 A calm day. The dogs are getting used to the chaos in my bathroom, the freezers of dog food are replenished, and the pups are growing.
August 17 Chaotic day. The master bathroom renovations started., and my "guard boy" is raising chaos. But Kai and the pups are OK. You will note that two did not make gains. Put it down to "not greatest scales, guesstimating at times, etc. They are about ready for the "cotton bag and fish scale" method. Eyes continue to open. And if I can get the videos uploaded, they will get posted. In the mean time, Pictures will have to do.
August 16 Peaceful day. not a lot of picture taking. Eyes are beginning to open. Tied to that is pups, awareness of Kai entering the box, mobility, beginning to poop on their own, biting each other, etc.
August 15 A lot of running around- pick up Goat Whey for dogs, pick up pasture raised chicken parts for dogs, and pick up a few things for me at Farmer Market. Then home. This evening they got a visit from Karen, who has Trey. The video is an example of them beginning to use their senses- Eyes are not open yet. There is a ceiling fan above them on the floor and it affect scent flow big time. And the eyes are peeping. They will open n the next few days.
August 14 A busy day.. Went to KY to see a litter of 12 (yes 12) Wire Hired Vizsla Puppies. That is why this is late getting posted. Weights done, NEW collars and a couple of videos.
August 13 A quiet day. A family that will probably be getting a puppy came by to do an intro, answer questions, and play with the pups. The quiet times will end soon, they they will have eyes, ears and produce LOTS of noise!
August 12 A quiet day, no visitors but lots of cuddle time for me...
August 11 Today was BUSY. Three sets of visitors thorough out the day. Thanks for coming to play with the pups.

July 15, Kai is on three meals a day. Although I feed a raw diet, this is the only time my dogs get kibble. Kai gets high quality, grain free kibble for lunch. And to prevent jealousy, Tega and Kaboom get a bit as well
July 12, We are in week 7 According to the ultrasound there are only two pups. We will do an X-Ray closer to whelp date to see what we really have. Kai is healthy and happy. That is a primary concern. June 10, We are in week 3. According to the pregnancy calendar:
June 3, We are just entering week 2. According to the pregnancy Calendar:

August 1: Yesterday we did a progesterone test to make sure that all is well. Kai is simply still cooking the babies. a video of the pups moving in her belly is on YouTube.
July 30 We are still taking temperatures multiple times a day-Kai's least favorite activity.. This morning it was nice and cool, so we went to their "running" field for a short amble. Picture from that, and a belly view, and a video. In the video, you can see a pup or two moving..
July 29. Temperature holding steady. Friday July 31 is a Blue Moon -so perhaps that is when she will whelp.
two weeks - what a difference
