Some information about myself and my Vizslas..

Currently, I currently have three Vizslas: Tega, KABOOM! and Kai. I have been involved in Vizslas since 1991. Jake was my first Vizsla after owning, competing with and occasionally breeding Great Danes for 23 years. Jake was not conformation quality, but his heart was pure Vizsla. He finished his first level of obedience title with ease, but absolutely hated to travel - anywhere, and was given to my daughter. He lived with her and later with her family until his death in January 2006 at 13 years of age.

The next three of my Vizslas earned their conformation title (CH). To balance the CH title, Cat had a CD and a TDI, Wells had his NA, and OAJ agility titles, his CD, his RN (Rally) and his TDI. Tega has her CH (and a BISS) with an RN title. For Tega the fun is in the play!

KABOOM! would love to do agility, but his body is not designed for the impact of A-frames and twisting of weaves. He absolutely loves Rally. And if his handler (me) does not goof, he always qualifies. As of right now, he lacks one leg for his RE. After that we will go for the RAE (highest Rally Title). He is not destined for the show ring.

Kai is the girl I kept out of Tega's third, and last, litter. Let's say that she has a lot to teach me. She is part of the Mission litter, and was named after an astronaut. She loves to fly-in the field, in the yard, and over the fence (4 foot) between the front and back yard! Perhaps naming a litter after people who fly is NOT a good idea! We are training for Agility, she has one of her Rally Novice legs (coming into season meant pulling her from a recent trial) and she should finish her CH by the time she comes into season this fall. Next are birds- which means that she will be wearing a gyps collar so that I can find her in the fields. She is intense and once trained to hold a point cannot be expected to recall!

I belong to the Vizsla Club of America (VCA), the Miami Valley Vizsla Club (MVVC), Clermont County Kennel Club, Queen City Dog Training Club and the Clermont County Dog Training Club. I finished a two year term on the Board of the Vizsla Club of America, I served a 7-year term as the Membership Co-Chair for the Vizsla Club of America and have served two terms as a Trustee (Board member) for the Clermont County Dog Training Club. I have been fortunate to serve in a number of capacities at the regional and national level. I am a TTouch practitioner (P1).

Pam Williams is Tega's Breeder and co-owner of Tega. Pam finished Tega in a relatively few number of times in the show ring from the Bred-by-Exhibitors class. I asked Pam to remain as co-owner because Pam is a wonderful friend, and resource. She is a member of the Vizsla Club of America (VCA). Pam has just finished her RN degree and getting back into some volunteer work with clubs, but working and raising a family and training her dogs is eating up a lot of her time. For more on Pam, her web site is www.windrunnervizslas.com.

Tega is a gem. She was selected for my home because of her intelligence and willingness to be bottom dog in the pack. This was necessary because of the temperament of the pack I had at the time. Away from home she adapts to the situation and is willing to be the top dog. She has had two litters. Every pup produced by Tega's mother (including Tega and her son KABOOM!) likes to roll in and eat nasty things - and many of them like to counter surf. Tega and KABOOM! learned very early that counter surfing resulted in a panicked human-but the 'gene' might be there regardless.

Tega wa bred for the last time when she came into season in 2008. She was bred to Dual CH. Oakleaf's Everwhen Chances R CDX, MH, NA, VC,V.C.A. Registry Of Merit.

Kai will be bred this (2012) spring to a dog that we feel is a fantastic pedigree matc. For information on this planned breeding. Following is some information about how we breed and match pups...

Pam and I do our very best to match the pup with the owner. For that reason an application does not guarantee a pup - nor does a deposit. There is no 1st pick, 2nd pick, etc. for pups. I will not place a pup in a home that is not a good match - that is self-defeating for all. The final matching is something that is done somewhere around week eight. If there is not a good match for you in the litter, the deposit will be returned in full, and Pam & I do our utmost to find a match for you with other Vizsla Breeders that I would purchase a pup from. The puppy will come to you with:

  • AKC Registration completed and paid for by me.
  • Microchipped to ME and paid for by me. The microchip stays in my name and the owner does not get listed as a contact. (explanation)
  • DNA Profile submitted to the AKC and paid for by me
  • Vaccination vials for the last two vaccinations for you to give to your Vet.
  • Application (or one year dues) paid to the Miami Valley Vizsla Club (or closest Regional club).

The balance is due when the puppy is put into your care. At that time, I am also requiring that you make a donation directly to the Vizsla Welfare Foundation for the health fund, which is working on a number of causes though primarily Epilepsy in Vizslas study at the University of MN. The VWF donation is a tax-deductible gift.

I plan on keeping puppies until they are 8 - 10 weeks old. I will not ship any puppies so plan on making arrangements to come to Cincinnati during that time. Puppies will be crate trained and well on the way to being housebroken. They will have made several field trips, including time at Pam Williams' house (Co-Breeder). They will know how to eat from their own bowl and will have had a wide variety of experiences with people, places and other dogs. There is a chance that they will have made a week long field trip. Puppies will be "temperament tested” using Sheila Booth's Positive Puppy Preview Method to effectively evaluate the puppies. The results of this test, in addition to daily observations and interactions will help us assure that the best puppy for your family is the one you take home.
